Horticultural show
The Late Chrysanthemum Show is the last of the three shows organised by Scarborough and Distrit Horticultural Association, and will take place in Crossgates Community Centre on November 12 and 13.
There are 86 classes in seven sections of the show, in addition to the chrysanthemum classes, there are sections for vegetables and fruit; pot plants and cacti; domestic and wine; handicrafts; decorated eggs and photography.
Entries are only 30p per entry, and cash prizes and certificates will be awarded to first and second and third in each class. The venue will be open from 5pm to 9pm on the Friday evening and from 8.30am to 10am on the Saturday for the staging of exhibits. The hall will then be closed for judging and the show will be open to the public on Saturday from 1pm to 4.30pm and on the Sunday from 11am until 4.30pm.
There is no admission charge, but the association would be glad of any voluntary donations towards the running of the show. There will also be a tombola and a raffle which will be drawn at 4pm on the Sunday prior to the presentation of prizes. Refreshments will also be available throught the show.

Friday November 11 service with two minutes’ silence in Alma Square, 11am.
Sunday November 13 remembrance service and wreath-laying at Oliver’s Mount, 10.40am. A Shoreline Suncruiser coach will leave the railway station at 10.15am; remembrance service at Queen St Methodist Church commences, 9.30am, followed by a parade to the lifeboat station for remembrance service at 11am.
