AWARDS TRIUMPH

-

Iain Butterworth, of Butterworth Marine, said: “Writing from my hotel room in Savannah, Georgia – I flew out at 6am the morning after the event, can I say I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The Scarborough Business awards event was a buzzing night from start to finish.

“The Mardi Gras theme created an electric atmosphere and it was great to see the Scarborough and district community come together for the night and celebrate its achievements, both old and new. Attending the event was great, to actually come away as winner of the best new business was fantastic.” Andrew Boyes, of Boyes Stores, said: “We thoroughly enjoyed the night. A superb evening, brilliantly organised, lots of glitz and glamour and a great way to showcase and celebrate the success of so many local businesses. Congratulations to all concerned.” Nick Sharples, of Handelsbanken: “The third year for the Scarborough News Business Awards – and the

best yet. We at Handelsbanken are delighted to give our support”. Andrew Clay, of Woodend Creative: “A fabulous evening and many I say glamorous too! Great to see so many people and be part of it.” Sarah Mills, of Flamingo Land: “It was great to meet the other people on the table, and the event was again well organised.”

Bob Watmore, of Derwent Training Association, said: “Congratulations on a fantastic event. It ran seamlessly and was very much enjoyed by all I spoke to and particularly the team from ABGraphic, who were mainly production team leaders who had never had an opportunity to experience such an event. Many thanks and best wishes for the next year.” Brian Davidson, Scarborough-based business leader, said: “It was a highly-polished and very entertaining tribute to the businesses of the Yorkshire coast. It was a privilege to

be invited and be inspired by some of their stories” Alan Atkinson, of AlexanderDennis Plaxton, said: “What a tremendous night, brilliant organisation and a great atmosphere to showcase all that is good about the Scarborough business community. I can only say I look forward to the next year’s event.

Di Walker, executive chairperson of Karro Food Group, said: “The award win was a fitting recognition of the hard work of everybody across the business. It is always pleasing to be recognised for your achievements in front of your peers and we’re delighted to have received this award against some extremely tough competition.” Chris West, of West BS, Bridlington, said: “Everyone was of the same opinion that it was a very well organised and balanced event with a good atmosphere. The entertainment by the band added to the vitality of the evening and Jon Hammond was excellent in his presentation – most professional with a touch of humour. “We especially liked the way the presentation flowed and was not as drawn out as some award nights are.

“It was also a great platform to mix with other businesses and meet up with associates old and new. A great night … Our award has been a real fillip to the staff and the positive publicity in the media has already been amazing.” Laura Cotter, of BStreamlined, said: “The band was fantastic. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners, what a fantastic celebration of local business!” Hunprenco said: “We are overwhelmed by the achievement of winning the Export and Overall Winner Awards and the achievement is all down to the hard working men and women at Hunprenco Limited. It is a great privilege to be recognised for 47 years of hard work and especially for sustaining our company through many recessions and dark times. Eddie Neesom has always been a hardworking man putting the company and technology in the forefront and these awards recognise this and are gratefully received.” Businesswomen Tina Boden, said: “I am invited to many business award events. It was, however, refreshing to attend Scarborough Business Awards 2016, with the micro businesses represented there, the independent businesses and the mixture of entertainmentfrom the band and Jon Hammond, brought one of the best award events I have every attended. “Congratulations to not only the winners but those shortlisted, it’s a great achievement to be recognised for your work.’ Mike Wilkinson, of the Rotary Club of Scarborough Cavaliers, said: “Really enjoyed the

business awards; congratulations to you and the team for a fantastic evening.” Victoria Mitchell, of the Brunswick Shopping Centre, said: “The event was tremendous – very well organised and great to see so much support from local businesses.”

Suzanne Burnett, of Castle Employment, said: “I’m really pleased to win the Businesswoman of the Year award. “I’m pleased for three reasons - obviously it’s great to be recognised on a personal level, but more importantly it’s recognition for the whole team at Castle – I absolutely couldn’t have had the success I’ve had in the past year, and in the past 20 years, without having a superb team around me. As always my thanks go to every single one of them.

“The third reason goes beyond Castle Employment. Recognising the achievement of women in business sends a really positive message to any young woman thinking of starting a business: that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.”
