K9 pooling resources with new arrival Freya
A specialist dog rehabilitation centre based in the Scarborough and district area has added a new member of staff following its continuing success.
Operation K9 Ltd, which was set up in Sherburn by James Wilkinson and Rebecca Robinson in 2014, has appointed a new hydrotherapist.
Qualified hydrotherapist Freya Mansell joined the company after it opened five days a week to accommodate its growing client base.
The company is now swimming up to 40 dogs a week as it goes from strength to strength.
Owners James, an ex Army dog trainer and handler, and Rebecca, a veterinary nurse, amalgamated their skills to develop the popular rehabilitation centre for dogs.
Operation K9 helps lots of arthritic dogs, slowing down the disease process and reducing pain in a natural way.
Hydrotherapy is a natural therapy using warm water for non-weight bearing exercise.
When a dog swims they use every muscle group and use their joints in a greater range, challenging muscles that are rarely used.
Hydrotherapy is ideal for older dogs that have started to stiffen up and slow down, releasing the contracted muscles and strengthening them.
Rebecca Robinson RVN, director at Operation K9, said: “Our clients are our best advocates. We have some amazing success stories and have genuinely transformed the lives of some of our patients. It’s such a rewarding job, to see the improvements each week and increasing the quality of life for the dogs.
“We are happy to discuss all aspects with owners to see if the therapy can help their dog. We would also like to extend our thanks to the Veterinary Practices in the area for their continued support.”
