Scarborough Athletic fans could be handed an early Christmas present in the shape of Alhassane Keita’s debut for the club.

The 19-year-old Guinean attacker has battled his way back from a broken leg and in the meantime the club have been busy resolving the required paperwork that will allow him to take to the field.

Boro are now working with Keita’s solicitor for his international clearance, after which they’ll look to unleash him on the Evo-Stik North.

Chairman Dave Holland said: “If the authorities act quickly then it could be a matter of days before he is cleared to play, which is what he’s desperately wanted all along.

“We are also looking to move Al has sane into Scarborough. If things go according to plan then he could be celebrating his new life in local accommodation by Christmas.

“He tells me every week that he is looking forward to coming to live in our town and running and training on the beach.

“With so many fans coming forward to help him out by donating food and clothing, he will probably feel like he has become become Scarborough Athletic’s adopted son.

“His whole life revolves around football and he is looking forward to making his mark in the second half of the season.”

Keita is just desperate to get out there and show what he can do.

He added: “I am just looking forward to getting back onto the pitch and playing.

“I want to thank all of the fans for their generosity, I want to pay them back now.”

Boro boss Steve Kittrick added: “It will be a case of seeing how he does and whether he comes back with the same commitment and endeavour that he had in pre-season.

“Obviously everyone is looking forward to seeing him back on the field.”
