A team held by plucky B side

-

This week in Division One saw a setback for the unbeaten Scarborough A team who could only manage a draw against Scarborough B.

This was caused by the A team being a man short, but A captain Bryan Edwards, playing with usual partner Paul Reddish, won their two rubbers to force a draw.

The B team had two of the club’s best teenagers in Marcus Brown and Josh Robinson in their ranks, alongside Mark White and Paul Jackson.

This result allowed Bridlington to sneek into top spot as they remain unbeaten after a 4-0 win over Hackness.

Captain Peter Nurse played with the big hitting Anthony Purvis and Dave Revell partnered Matt Foley.

For Hackness Adam Tildsley’s partner was Martin Glassett and Henry Tucker played with Ekaits Unanue.

In the first of the Division Two matches, Scarborough E took on Rudston 2.

This was another tight match with Rudston just coming out on top 3-1 to consolidate their position in second place.

Captain Peter Crawford with partner Josh Hirst won both their tight ties.

Ian Reed and Jane Crossleytookt he vital third rub- ber to take the match.

For Scarborough Steve Brindle and Tom Hunt took a rubber, they were joined by David Hudghton and Sonia Kotzinger.

The final match was a real humdinger with Scarborough D taking on Scalby . This was always going to be a hard fought, with Scarborough fielding a strong side to test unbeaten Scalby so it was no surprise to see the match end in a 2-2 draw.

For Scarborough Jon Conyers played with Ashley Rawling and Jim Coppack partnered John Reay. Both pairs took a rubber.

Scalby had their strongest team out with Richard Stacey paired with Paul Pavlov and captain Steve McNamara partnering Matt Thundercliffe.
