JENKINSON FIRES EDGEHILL TO WIN
A Luke Jenkinson hat-trick helped Edgehill boost their Scarborough Saturday League Division One title hopes with a 5-1 at home to rivals Newlands.
After a goalless first half, Jenkinson broke the deadlock within a minute of the restart, seizing upon hesitancy in the visiting defence.
Jack Hakings levelled from a set-piece, but Jenkinson struck his second after a defensive error from Jordan Mintoft.
Edgehill went 3-1 up in the 70th minute through Kieran Link’s fine finish from the edge of the penalty area, and five minutes later they added a fourth from the penalty spot, Jenkinson completing his hattrick after Dean Craig was fouled by Jason Prosser, who otherwise had a great game for Newlands.
The win was sealed in the 77th minute when Craig turned his marker and fired his shot in off the post.
Centre-back Kurtis Henderson was the man of the match for Edgehill, while central midfielder Link also shone again for the hosts, Prosser standing out for Newlands.
Fellow high-flyers Hunmanby United set up a crunch clash with leaders West Pier on Saturday with a 5-0 win at Sleights.
A first-half hat-trick from Cameron Dobson put United in control, the third of his goals a superb lob from the halfway line.
Mike Johnson made it four with a cracking 16-yard strike into the top corner, James Pinder’s shot completing the scoring for the visitors.
Adam Entwhistle was named as man of the match for a Sleights side that played their fair share of free-flowing football but couldn’t take their chances.

Seamer Sports, with Martin Cooper and Neil Thomas scoring braces for the hosts.
Gaz Thomas, Sean Exley and Chris Nelson also scored for Andy Spivey’s team. Seamer, who were depleted and only had a bare 11, battled to the end and had their man of the match, keeper Darrol Lewis, not made a string of fine saves the margin of defeat could have been far higher. Filey Town showed their class with a 9-0 win at FC Rosette. Lalan Flynn, Daz Clough and Ben Briggs notched two goals apiece for the visitors, with Ricky Tomlinson, James Jenkinson and Jordan Philliskirk also on target for Filey.
Midfielders Liam Rowley and Sam Loy were the joint men of the match for Rosette.
