Help for disability independence

North Yorkshire Centre for Independent Living (Nycil) has received a grant from North Yorkshire County Council’s Stronger Communities Fund to establish Direct Payments Support Groups in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale.

If you’re a disabled person receiving direct payments, personal budgets or assistance/care support, the groups are there to help you.

Lee Dickinson, development officer, said “Bridget Hardy and myself are here to facilitate the groups initially but we want disabled people to take control.”

The next meeting takes place at Whitby Library, Windsor Terrace, on Tuesday 10 January at 10.30am.
