Spectacular Christmas production of The Sound of Music

Against a spectacular backdrop of the Austrian hills, The Sound of Music rang out in an irrepressibly joyful production that showcased the talent, exuberance and sheer joy of musical stage performance at Terrington Hall.

Olympia Storey perfectly captured Maria’s irrepressible zest for life and motherliness towards the seven children of the austere Captain Von Trapp (Nat Esler). Rachel Lindenberg’s worldly-wise Mother Abbess was superbly controlled as she guided Maria in the choices she would make.

Nat Esler effortlessly maintained the Captain’s impassive exterior until even he had to give way to Maria’s joyful, childlike love of life.

And then there were the seven Von Trapp children, strait-jacketed by their father but who blossomed under Maria’s loving care.

They were superbly captured in all their shades and gave so many highlights of the show whether in song or dance or by their superbly timed and executed lines.
