WI meeting

-

Members of Seamer and Irton WI met for their Christmas party in the memorial hall and were welcomed by president Edna Burton. She also welcomed the members of the Dirty Windows ukelele band from Whitby, who set up their instruments for the evening. The band played a lively and eclectic mix of well-known music, putting their own twist on some of the numbers, and encouraged the ladies of the WI to sing along with them and some even got up and danced.

A finger buffet was provided by the members, and there was a raffle with extra prizes for Christmas. The monthly competition cup for the most points in 2016 was presented to the winner, Jan Braidley. The band played a second set of music and ended with a finale of Christmas songs.

They were warmly thanked on behalf of all the members by Edna, and everyone was wished a very happy Christmas and New Year.

The 2017 meetings begin with the annual meeting on January 18 in the memorial hall when we hope to see all current members who are reminded that subs will be due. Anyone who would like to give WI a try should come along for 7.30pm and you will be made very welcome.

There will be a business meeting followed by Call My Bluff. Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you all.
