The carol service was organised by members of the chapel with organist Doreen Lawson. The Nativity story was told with traditiona­l bible readings and carols.

The service began with the lighting of the Advent candles and prayers and the bible readings, poems and the solo were given by members of the church.

The Singing for Fun group performed two Christmas songs accompanie­d by Doreen on piano. During the singing of Silent Night the lights were dimmed and members of the congregati­on lit candles. Mince pies, Christmas cake and ginger wine were served after.

There is no service at Seamer chapel on Christmas Day we have been invited to attend Cayton Methodist Church at 10.30am. The service on New Year’s Day will be taken by Thomas Clayton.
