NAME A YOUNG STAR!
Carolyn Hodgson Television presenter and former Miss Scarborough Carolyn Hodgson will be the host for this year’s Young Stars awards.
The Scarborough News and the borough mayor have launched the new awards ceremony for the area’s young people.
Along with our sister papers the Whitby Gazette and the Filey and Hunmanby Mercury, plus Scarborough Borough Council and sponsor McCain, we are now inviting entries for the first ever Young Stars 2017 – the Borough Children’s Awards.
The event is a new version ofthe successfulBor ough’sBig Thank You Awards, with the judging and sponsors this year changing to a dedicated family and youth focus instead.
Carolyn, who was brought up in Scarborough, said: “I am looking forward to a great event.”
Scarborough Rugby Union Football Club has generously agreed to provide the venue and refreshments for the inaugural event on April 3.
Mayor of the Borough of Scarborough Cllr Simon Green said: “I am delighted that the Youth Awards 2017 is providing a platform for the Borough to recognise the often unseen and unsung efforts of youths and children of all ages. Children often do things for others, either because they need to, or simply want to, which can impact on others’ lives so much in a positive way.
“Scarborough Borough Council is very pleased to be involved with this event, and we are very much looking forward to receiving what we know will be some very heartfelt nominations.”
Sponsors McCain will choose and present an extra award, the Max Payne memorial Award.
