May the luck be with you in star raffle

-

A charity shop in Scarborough is offering residents the chance to own a unique slice of sci-fi cinematic history.

The Sense Shop in Newborough is taking part in a major raffle to win the autographs of the all the key Star Wars actors.

Neil Ellis, a film industry prop maker, spent eight months collecting celebrity signatures of the cast and crew of the iconic Star Wars films, including Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega and the late Carrie Fisher.

The autograph book which also includes Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker from the original series, and the new series’ directors Gareth Edwards and Rian Johnson, is displayed in a spectacular ‘Millennium Falcon themed’ bronze-cast that Neil has designed himself.

He has now donated this collection with the proceeds from the raffle going to Sense.

Neil Ellis, a lifelong Star Wars fan, landed his dream job when he started to work for Lucasfilm as a model maker and costume FX specialist.

Neil said: “It dawned on me that kids who are deafblind will never be able to appreciate all the things that make Star Wars so amazing. I know it’s the least of their worries, but it’s just another thing they must miss out on.”

Rather than auction the book off to the highest bidder, Neil has decided that every fan should have an equal chance to win it.

The public are being invited to make a minimum donation of £5 to Sense, with one lucky winner being chosen at random, by Neil Himself, to win the prize on May the Fourth: Star Wars Day.

Sense is a National Charity who support people who are deafblind, have sensory impairments or complex needs, to enjoy more independent lives.
