Health group thanks patients
A health organisation which buys health services for patients in Scarborough and Ryedale has offered its thanks to staff working in the local health service for their hard work in providing care over the winter period at a time of unprecedented demand.
Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) chairman Dr Phil Garnett said: “Demand for health services particularly GPs, A&E and Urgent Care has been extremely high over the winter months so far and NHS staff have worked tirelessly to meet the demand and provide a high standard of care for patients. As more cold weather is expected we would ask patients to be vigilant to the risks of accident and injury and take care when out and about’
This winter there has been significant pressure on NHS services seen on a national scale.
Residents will have seen many stories and documentaries related to pressures on the NHS – particularly in A&E.
Patients are therefore urged to get the Right Care First Time by using local pharmacies or for urgent medical help that is not an emergency by calling the 111 service which can direct them to the most appropriate service for their needs.
This ensures that A&E is available for those with serious or life threatening conditions.
CCG chief officer Simon Cox said: “We are very grateful for the skill, dedication and professionalism of NHS staff and, on behalf of the CCG, we would like to offer our sincere thanks to all local health and social care staff who have worked so hard to ensure that our patients get the care they need at this very busy time.”
