Morris achieves PB in Blackpool

Paula Morris competed in her second half-marathon this year, which was the North

West event that was held in Blackpool.

She made her trip across the Pennines worthwhile, after finishing up in 41st of 218 females with a personal best time of 2 hours 4 minutes, which bettered her previous best achieved at the Brass Monkey race last month.

Her time is the fourth fastest by a club female member this year.

Joanne Abbott, who is a regular competitor at trail races, competed in an after dark race over 10 kilometres which was the second running of the Dark Sky race at Osmotherle­y.

The race route was mostly around the Cod Beck Reservoir, and the undulating course was lit up with glow sticks.

Abbott finished 34th female in a good time for this event of 61 minutes 13 seconds.

Juliette Pilgrim competed in her fourth York Parkrun, and was 41st of 218 females with a personal best time of 25 minutes 13 seconds.

Twelve club members competed in the latest Sewerby Parkrun.

Michael Dowson was the first home for the club in 14th overall. He was followed by Warren Foster in 19th and second Over-40.

Mike Padgham, who was the only other club male at Sewerby, was 73rd male and third Over-60.

Ruth Rutt once again led all the club females when finishing third female overall and was first Over-55.

Emma Foster was 10th and was followed by: 10th, Jennie Trown 18th, Ciara Harper 22nd, Dawn Trown 24th and 3rd Over-40, Lesley Bayes 27th and first Over-65, Linds Hinchliffe 33rd, Alison Hornsby 37th and Sophie Vaughan 38th.

Thirteen club members competed in the latest Dalby Forest Parkrun.

Matt Middleton, who competes as a second-claim club member for Scarboroug­h, and who was racing for the first time this year, finished up in the seventh.

He was followed by Glenn Shelton, who was 36th and third Over-55.

The only other club males were Simon Valente, who finished in 38th and third Over-60, and Martin Elwick, who was 64th with a personal best time.

Lynzie Fleming led the club’s women when finishing in 12th female overall.

Sally Elwick, who was 13th and second Over-40 with a personal best time headed: Jemma Casson 20th, Amelia Elwick 30th, Sam Shepherdso­n 34th, Holly Shepherdso­n 49th, Avril Metcalfe 52nd and second Over-55, Alison Wiles 60th and Sue Renwick 81st
