Ward fires 10-man Flixton Under-16s into semi-finals
Ten-man Flixton Under-16s progressed into the semi-finals of the Scarborough FA District Cup with a convincing 3-0 victory over West Pier.
Flixton dominated the first half creating plenty of chances with an early goal coming from midfielder Harry Ward after excellent play by Jay Elsdon and Harry Keary.
Early in the second half star man Elsdon bagged a goal himself after a fine individual run following some tricky work by Ward.
To finish off the quarterfinal tie, Ward sealed the win with his second goal of the game.
Credit goes to all 10 Flixton players for a strong determined performance. ScalbyUnder-14s won 6-0 against Scholes Park Raiders in their Scarborough FA Junior Cup quarter-final.
Scalby progressed due a fine performance, Ted Edwards and Rueben Staveley scoring a double each.
Tyler Smith and Jake Reeves also grabbed one each.
William Whiteside was also in fine form at full-back.
Scalby’s win sets up a crunch semi-final clash at Whitby Fishermen. Heslerton Under-14s took on a strong Hull League side Burlington Jackdaws in the same competition.
Heslerton were without keeper Will Gilbank through illness, so Tyler Brooks stepped in and made a string of fine saves throughout.
These and two fine goals from Ollie Stanton and Tom Stockdale were not enough to see Heslerton into the next round as they lost 11-2.

Under-14s and Hull Youth League promotion rivals West Hull Warriors drew 1-1 as a late Aiden Crawford equaliser earned Seamer a point
Both teams were quickly playing attacking football with West Hull taking an early lead after a mix-up between the Seamer defence and keeper.
Seamer fought back with Blake Drury hitting a fierce volley which was superbly saved by the away keeper.
The hosts Seamer continued to attack but couldn’t find the final ball to beat the visitors’ defence before the break.
The home side produced some good passing football in the second half in search of the equaliser with both teams creating chances, but it was Seamer who rode their luck as West Hull pushed to secure a win hitting the bar and post in quick succession.
In a physical and competitive encounter, it was striker Crawford who popped up with an important equaliser to earn Seamer a point and keep the home side in the promotion places.
Burlington Jackdaws Under-12s eased to a 5-2 win against Phoenix in the Scarborough FA District Cup. ScholesParkRaidersUnder-12s beat Pickering Town 3-1.
Raiders dominated the first half with some excellent football which resulted in them taking the lead via a header from Coby Rowe.
Not long after a cracking strike from William Stokoe made it 2-0.
Shortly before half-time Reuben Hartley chipped the Pikes keeper to put Scholes 3-0 up at the break.
Pickering came out battling in the second half and pushed upfield, testing Scholes’ defence and goalkeeper Daniel Taylor.
Their pressure paid off with a cracking goal to wrap things up at 3-1 to Scholes. Heslerton Under-Nines Pirates hosted Scalby and put in a fantastic team performance, twice coming back first through Alfie Bradbury’s free-kick then with a Malachey Kendrew strike.
The home team shared the man of the match honours.
An Oliver Dade wonderstrike was the highlight in game two, but Scalby ran out winners, again the whole team took the Pirates’ man of match award. Heslerton Jaguars Under-Eights hosted Seamer and put in a well-organised, hard-working performance.
Jaguars defended well, and even though they were eventually defeated in both games, there was excellent defending from Oscar Young, Joey Palmer and Harley Bott
A spectacular goalkeeping display from Kody Oldroyd also helped the Jaguars.
In game two, Bott, Oldroyd and Owen Ellis scored for Jaguars before Seamer replied.
Alfie Rouph and Ryan Cooper pressed and assisted while Aaron Walton worked hard.
