The service last Sunday was the first Sunday in Lent and was led by local preacher Paul Midgley. The welcomer was Jennifer Atkinson and the steward Jane Williams. Readings were given by Caroline Wright and Jennifer Atkinson. The organist was Jane Allen and the flowers were provided by Gwyneth Russell. Refreshmen­ts after the service were served by Ian and Caroline Wright.

This Sunday the service will be led by the Rev Rosie Coles and will include the sacrament of Holy Communion.

All are very welcome to attend any of the Sunday services which commence at 10.30am.

Our service was arranged by the secretary, Mrs Jane Williams, and the local committee of Methodists and Anglicans. The Rev Rosie Coles led the service. Others taking part were Brenda Wealleans, Corrine Sykes, Margaret Warriner, Gwyneth Russell, Jennifer Atkinson, Jane Williams, Dorothy Anfield, Sue Hill, Rosa Walker and Julie Barber.

The organist was Jane Allen. Myra Morris was the welcomer and she collected the offerings. Refreshmen­ts were served at the end of the service and various cakes were made by Jane Williams.

During the litter pick the mayor and mayoress of Scarboroug­h, Cllr Simon and Mrs Val Green visited and had photograph­s taken with the litter pickers.

The group is always very pleased to welcome new helpers at any of their meetings on temptation, and he also gave the intercessi­ons. Music was provided by Mike Lester, and Rosemary and David Oliver. Coffee was served in the community church hall after the service.

Next week a service of morning worship will be held at 10am led by Ros’Toole.

A Women’s World Day of Prayer service was celebrated on Friday March 3 by members of Cloughton church, and Burniston Methodist Chapel at Cober Hill Guest House.

This year the order of service was arranged by the women of the Philippine­s.
