The Tuesday coffee morning met and your kind donations for coffee are still being given to Sherburn Surgery to assist with the purchase of a Doppler Scanner. We met in chapel for Ash Wednesday prayer led by Christine Fenwick and Jean Brown. The Lenten cross was prepared in preparation for Sunday Worship when each week during Lent different Easter artefacts will be added. We continue our journey to the cross as we gather in His name each Wednesday during Lent at 4pm to pray.

Café Church was open for worship on Sunday morning when the Worship Team assisted by the Praise Band led worship on the first Sunday in Lent. Welcomer was Christine Pickard and the offertory steward was Ray Pickard and the offertory was received by Janet Tebb. The symbols of bread and wine were laid at the foot of the cross by Chris and Sandra Cade.

The Bible Reading of the parable of the Lost son was read by Liz Aconley who along with Janet did a sketch entitled, Polly and Dolly and a Collie called Olly.

The other Bible reading was done in the form of a picture story of when Mary and Joseph lost Jesus on a trip to Jerusalem only to find him in the temple asking questions.

Lent, too, brings up many questions for us and we were encouraged to ask for God’s help for the answers. We sang a song, ‘Three Lost Things’, played for us on the organ by India Heron.

Sandra Cade interceded for us with our prayers and Jean Brown asked a blessing on us all. With the children providing the percussion section to the praise band we ended our worship in praise.

Afterwards we enjoyed coffee together.

The worship next Sunday at 10.30am will be led by the Rev Martin Calver and all are invited.
