A packed crowd braved the damp weather to take in some fine action at the Charm Park-based Derwent Hunt’s Point-to-Point meeting. There were a total of six races on the day, as well as a barbecue and refreshments tent and plenty for the younger racegoers.

Tasheba was having his 60th career start in the Derwent and Staintondale

Hunt race and finished the ready winner under accountant Amy Collier for the second year running.

This race was again the target for Tasheba, with Amy having close links with the hunt as she undertakes the role of their treasurer.

Eighteen-year-old, Emma Smith-Chaston has her horses in flying form. Following on from her win with Trop Fort last week, she entered the winner’s enclosure this week on Harris after winning a competitive Club Members. The Mens Open Race went the way of three time Grimthorpe Gold Cup winner, Monsieur Jordain and Will Easterby.

Street Entertainer and Jess Gillam landed the Ladies Open Race for Huttonle-Hole-based trainer Sarah Jane Stilgoe.

Dance of Time looks to be shaping into a useful prospect after winning the Restricted Race. Piloted by John Dawson, the pair were always handy, taking the lead with a circuit to run.

A field of 16 runners took part in the Open Maiden Race. The winner was Maguires Bridge, who was having his first ever run for jockey Tom Strawson.

Point-to-Point action returns to Charm Park on Easter Monday.
