George Rhodes Jnr is eyeing up a dazzling performance when he takes on Dan West at the Energise Leisure Centre in York next weekend.

Rhodes, 25, has recorded five wins and one draw to date since turning over to the professional ranks, and he’ll be aiming to wrap up another win against Sheffield hopeful West, 23.

The Westway ABC based welterweight, who is making the step up for his first six-round contest, said: “I wanted to fight Steven Backhouse on this show, but for whatever reason, that hasn’t materialised.

“I don’t know much about Dan West, but I don’t tend to focus on opponents at this stage of my career anyway.

“I believe I’ll be too skillful for him, and if I need to stand and trade then I can do that too.

“I’ve been getting some great sparring in and I’m just tapering down to fight night now.

“I’m told it’s a good venue, so I’m hoping I can put on a good performance.”

Rhodes has sold over 100 tickets for the show, and he admits he can’t wait to sample the atmosphere come fight night.

“I’ve sold a good amount of tickets and I know they’ll be the loudest in there come next Saturday,” said Rhodes.

“It’s upto me to put a show on for them and I’m sure I can give them something to cheer about.”

Rhodes has more tickets available for the show, and they can be bought by contacting him on 07896 568 611.
