Ruttis second female in Dalby run

Twelve club members took part in the latest Dalby Forest Parkrun.

The first home for the club was Ruth Rutt, who finished second female overall and the first Over-55.

Ruth was also 17th overall of an above average field of 146.

Glenn Shelton was next in 20th male and first Over-55 and led home Simon Valente 32nd and second Over-60, Brian Rutt 42nd and Martin Elwick 80th in a PB.

Ruth headed Juliette Pilgrim 16th, Amelia Elwick 17th in a PB, Paula Morris 19th in a PB, Alison Wiles 31st, Avril Metcalfe 48th, Sally Elwick 78th and Katie Webster 48th.

There were seven club members taking part in the latest Sewerby Parkrun.

Michael Dowson was first home for the club in 11th and headed two other Parkrun regulars Warren and Emma Foster.

Warren was 13th and third Over-40 male, and Emma was also 13th and first Over-40 female.

Ciara Harper headed three other ever present runners in 16th and second 11-14, Lesley Bayes 29th and first Over-65, Sophie Vaughan 31st and Liz Cremer 56th.

Anya Potter-Firth, who made her club debut with the club in February, represente­d Pickering Junior School at the Ryedale and Whitby Schools Junior Cross Country Championsh­ips.

The 11-year-old was a decisive winner of the Girls Year Six race and qualified for the district championsh­ips to be held at Dalby Forest on the March 23.

Warren and Emma Foster-competed in the Bolton Abbey Trail Running Festival, which consisted of races from 10 kilometres to full marathons, in and around the grounds of the famous Abbey over two days.

On day one of the event, Warren was fourth in the marathon in 3 hours 49 minutes and Emma was fifth female in the half-marathon in

1 hour 55 minutes.

On the second day, Warren remarkably took on another marathon and finished sixth in 4 hours 5 minutes.

Emma settled for the 10 kilometre event at which she finished third female in 57.28.

Five club members competed in Glaisdale Rigg Fell Race.

The course consisted of a very testing muddy route which started and finished in Glaisdale, near Whitby, and had 1,500 feet of climb over the 8.5 miles in the surroundin­g area.

Danny Walls was the first home for the club in 73 minutes 48 seconds, and was followed by Sue Haslam in

82.35 which gave her the first Over-60 prize.

Sarah Casey completed her second ever fell race in 96.12 and was closely followed by Neil Roberts in 98.55.

Dave Parke completed this tough event in 105.44 and was second Over-65.

Nikki Hanson competed in the Lightwater Valley

Challenge which consisted of a very muddy course in the grounds of the famous theme park at Ripon.

The race was an opportunit­y to gain experience of trail racing before a Hardmoors ultra later this month, and was completed in 51 minutes 12 seconds and up in 19th of 232 female finishers.
