Green and Butterfield smash hat-tricks in Blues victory
Heslerton Under-14s met Kirkbymoorside for the second time in a week, the Blues taking a first-half lead through goals from Tyler Green, Ollie Stanton and Roman Butterfield.
The first 10 minutes of the second half saw those three hit another goal apiece, before Green and Butterfield completed their hat-tricks.
Tom Stockdale hit the ninth and then substitute Olaf Mazur came on and found the net.
Stockdale hit his second of the game before winger Joe Wade scored his first of the season prior to the final whistle.
Man of the match was the ever-industrious midfielder Tom Stockdale. Scholes Park Under-12s were away to Kirkbymoorside on Sunday morning in the semi-finals of the Scarborough Minor Cup.
Scholes played impressive football for the first 20 minutes and they took the lead through Sam Hampton, who converted from a cross from Reuben Hartley.
Kirkbymoorside came back strong and went into half-time 2-1 up.
The second half saw Scholes press hard for an equaliser, but struggled to get back into the game and conceded a third goal to round things off at 3-1 to Kirkby. Ayton Under-12s entertained Pickering Town at
Garth End Road.
The hosts set off in style, playing some very neat football through midfielder and captain Keane Knowles slotted in Mike Cairns to open the scoring.
Cairns caused havoc with the Pickering back four, only to be denied on numerous occasions by the outstanding keeper.
Town pushed the village team into their own half, but with some solid defending from Danny Wood and Jack McLeod kept them at bay.
The second half was again controlled by Knowles feeding the ball through again for Cairns to make it 2-0.
Owen Mansell and Jack Northgraves worked well down the right, keeping Town pressed back in their defensive third.
A neat move down the left from Jack Gibson and Ben Whitehead set up Knowles, who shot on the Pickering goal only for the keeper to make a wonder save, the same man following up the loose ball and reacting quickest to make it 3-0.
Pickering grabbed one back with a fantastic shot that gave TJ Bateman a chance in the Ayton net.
The mand of the match for the victors was a joint affair as both Wood and Knowles impressed in a strong team performance.
Ayton coach Rich Forbes said: “Keane’s midfield performances are a real prospect for local football in the future.”
