Lawrence maintains excellent goalscoring form in away win

-

Scarborough Men travelled to second-placed Bradford hoping to cement their position at the top of the table and they left with a 4-3 win.

Bradford started the quicker out of the blocks and took a 1-0 lead.

Scarborough pulled it back level with a scintillating finish into the top corner from Anthony Allison.

No sooner had the game restarted however, Bradford re-took the lead.

Scarborough found themselves behind in a game for the first time this season and that’s how it stayed till the break.

They soon began to dominate possession and levelled things up as captain Rikki Lawrence was there to flick it passed the keeper from close range.

Bradford responded again with a goal of their own against the run of play to restore their advantage to 3-2.

But two more goals from captain Lawrence tipped the game into Scarborough’s favour, completing his hat-trick and taking his total to 19 in seven games. Scarborough Ladies bagged a 1-0 win at City of York 5ths.

Some textbook passing by Alexandra Seymour and Helen Evans in the centre meant York’s defence was pressed from the start.

It bought an important goal 10 minutes in, from a ball passed in from the right to Susan Barker, who calmly smashed it left, past the keeper.

It then became a game of Scarborough trying to defend their lead.

Debutant keeper Katie Houldershaw, kept the ball out on numerous occasions and had a storming game.

Chloe Cheshire defended one in the first half and Stella Garside repeated it in the second. Scarborough Mens

2nds lost 7-1 against Driffield 3rds.

The first half would prove costly for the home side as they conceded five goals from open play.

In the end Scarborough were rewarded with an excellent solo goal from forward Aaron Dyson, but Driffield ran out winners.
