Tait double helps see off City of York

Scarboroug­h Men continued their 100% start to the season with a 6-0 home victory over City of York 6ths.

In the early exchanges York looked like a side up for the task and looked like giving the league leaders.

A tight first half finished with the home side going ahead though, Michael Humphries giving them a 1-0 lead into the break.

Scarboroug­h found another gear after the break and started to take control.

A quick goal from captain Rikki Lawrence, followed by finishes from Chris Tait, Anthony Allison and Will Palmer gave Scarboroug­h a 5-0 lead.

They were then awarded a penalty stroke, which was converted by Tait for his second of the day.

Scarboroug­h return to action at the weekend with a tricky trip to Airedale 2nds. Scarboroug­h Men 2nds claimed their first point of the season as they came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with leaders Harrogate 5ths.

Harrogate demonstrat­ed why they where top of the pile with slick exchanges of passes from their midfielder­s into the attackers, rewarding them with two quick goals.

Scarboroug­h pulled a goal back before half-time through man of the match Joe William, who powered into the box and slotted the ball into the right corner for his first of the season.

The home side were dealt a huge blow at the beginning of the second half as Harrogate restored their two-goal cushion through Scarboroug­h been unable to clear their lines.

Scarboroug­h then hit back and started to press themselves.

The sustained pressure was rewarded with two goals from forward Aaron Dyson.

These were through an excellent strike within the box and converting a penalty flick after been brought down.

Scarboroug­h’s second team are back in action this weekend with another home tie, this time against to Boston Spa 4ths.
