University goes on UK tour

Recruitment officers from CU Scarborough,partoftheCoventry University Group, have met with students from 20 colleges in 20 days to give them a taste of higher education and showcase all that the town has to offer.

During October, staff members have travelled as far north as Newcastle, as far inland as Manchester and as far south as Grimsby to attend careers fairs, higher education fairs, exhibitions, workshops and drop-in events to spread the word about CU Scarborough. Students have been given tips on applying to university, information on university life and advice on the courses that may be right for them.

Taster events have also been held at CU Scarborough to welcome those from schools and colleges in the area into the multi-million pound facility.

Steven Knowles, student recruitment and marketing manager, said: “It has been excellent to connect with so many students from locations right across the north of England. We have not only given advice on how to submit the best university applications, but have also spread the word about Scarborough.

“We had a lot of interest and hope to see some young people moving to the area to experience our unique style of careerfocused education.

“This would not only bring new skills to the area but also help boost the local economy.
