Walking over Wakefield

-

Scarborough Hockey Club’s men’s first team charged nine points clear with a success against Wakefield 4ths.

Scarborough Hockey Club’s men’s first team charged nine points clear at the top of the table with a 7-2 success against Wakefield 4ths.

Due to the weather conditions only they managed to get their game on, as the mens second team and the ladies had their matches postponed.

The game with Wakefield was a top-of-the-table clash, with the home team looking to cement their place at the summit.

Scarborough started the brighter with some good play and two quick goals from captain Rikki Lawrence, shortly followed by a deft touch from Mike Humphries to give the hosts a 3-0 lead at the break.

Wakefield came out quickly and pulled on back to make it 3-1.

Scarborough turned it on again with another from Lawrence and a penalty flick converted by Chris Tait, before Tait added another from a short corner to make it 6-2.

Anthony Allison added another to seal a 7-2 victory.

With all three Scarborough teams away this weekend, they will be looking to continue the momentum.

The Men’s first team are looking to extend their lead at the top when they face Halifax 3rds.

The Men’s second team are still seeking their first win as Harrogate 6ths are the hosts and the Ladies have a midday start away to Leeds 4ths.
