Sue Haslam competed for the England Women’s Over-60 team at the annual Masters Home Countries and Ireland Cross Country Match in the Northern Ireland city of Derry.

Haslam was selected for this prestigious event for the second successive year, after remaining unbeaten this year in her age group at cross country, road and fell races.

Sue finished ninth overall of the top Over-60 women runners from the four home countries and Ireland, and helped the team finish as the winning team.

Lynzie Fleming and Rachel Gyte travelled to Holland to compete in the annual Zevenhuevelen Loop 15 kilometre road race which took place in Nijmegen.

The race title translates as seven hills and over what was therefore a tough course, Rachel finished in 1 hour 15 and was followed by Lynzie who clocked 1 hour 16.

They were pleased to have finished second and third of all the British competitors in this multi national race.

Forty-five club members competed in the second round of the club’s Winter Handicap series of races, which was held at Reasty Top.

The first to finish on handicap was Chris Wade who was closely followed by Katie Webster and Ruth Frank.

As at the first race in the series, Matt Middleton was the fastest male finisher and Rhona Marshall the fastest female.

Paula Morris travelled to Wales to compete in the Conwy Half Marathon, which was held at the Welsh town of Llandudno and included the famous Great Orme and Little Orme landmarks.

This was Paula’s 12th half marathon race this year, and over one of the most testing courses, she finished in 2 hours 8 minutes.

Cyprus-based Chris Clayton competed in the Larnaca Half Marathon.

On what was a very warm day for the time of year, he was pleased to finish in 38th overall and third Over-50 in 1 hour 41 minutes.

Paul Thompson competed in the Big Northumberland 10 mile race, which was held on what was a testing hilly course with some icy patches following severe overnight frost.

In a race which attracted over 600 runners from top clubs in the North East, Paul finished up in 74th overall and was the third Over-55 in a time of 74 minutes 49 seconds.
