Junior Report with James Perrett

-

In a week that saw a lot of wet weather, we were lucky the fields were able to dry off and the majority of them were still playable for the minis.

It was a training Sunday for them and with the warmest day they have had for a while, all sides took the chance to train.

They will be playing host to Malton RUFC this Sunday, so hopefully they will be able to take what they have learnt in training and apply it into the games.

The Under-10s were the only minis team which had a different session on Sunday to everyone else.

With it being wet and muddy on the pitches, they took the opportunity to go down to the beach to train.

Even though they were not at the Rugby Club, it didn’t stop them getting stuck in and playing some rugby against each other.

The Under-13s came up against a very strong Wetherby side in the cup competition and were outplayed on the day.

The Wetherby side contained some very big and fast kids who were able to break the Scarborough line a few too many times unfortunately.

Scarborough Colts won 38-19 at Bridlington Colts.

The Colts came out blazing from the off with good forward play and excellent handling skills from the backs, scoring three times without an answer from the home team.

However, after going down to 13 from an injury, Brid took advantage and caught Scarborough napping with two quick tries.

The Colts rallied round and went into half-time ahead.

The second half was surprisingly much the same with Scarborough dominating play throughout with brief spells where Bridlington took the upper hand.

There were many good performances, great defensive work from second row Will Rennard and good strong running from Zak Kirk, Tom Monsey and Alex Hird.

Joe Wallace controlled the game at half-back with support from his back line.

Sam Jackson was everywhere as always, but man of the match goes Liam Haywood, who scored two tries.
