Dashing through the sand!
More than 500 people got into the festive spirit and headed to Scarborough seafront for the annual Santa Dash. The annual Christmas fundraiser, which aids Saint Catherine’s Hospice every year, saw 550 runners dressed in a full Santa costume tackle the 5k or 10k course.
The hospice is hoping to raise £25,000 in sponsorship which directly funds patient care.
Rhiannon Hunt, event organiser, said: ‘‘We were over the moon with the amount of people who came out and braved the weather.
“We loved seeing people of all ages embrace the festive spirit by dashing along the seafront in their Santa suits!”
The seafront of North Bay was a sea of red Santas as families and friends joined together to raise funds and get into the festive spirit.
Saint Catherine’s has thanked its main sponsors TU Simple and Peace of Mind.
Rhiannon added: “We also wanted to thank the Sealife Centre for all their support and free entry and mince pies, Andyhire, Armature Radio, McDonalds Scarborough, Round Table 88, Nicky from Motiv8, Loo’s 4 ewe, Simpsons Travel and Don French signs who gave up their time and donated items for the event.
“Finally we would like to thank our volunteers who marshalled and helped on the day too.”
Saint Catherine’s next event is the Scampston Scramble which is an obstacle course that adults of all abilities can wriggle under, dive over and splash through.
It is taking place on May 13 at Scampston Hall in Malton.
