Appeal for help with legal fees

-

Thank you to Ali Wilkins who, in her letter to Scarborough News of November 30, appealed for people to donate, fundraise towards Save the Futurist’s considerable legal expenses.

It is the oral hearing expenses, incurred by our lawyers and the £10,000 costs awarded to Scarborough Council at the proceedings by the judge, Justice Kerr, for which donations are needed; the lawyers’ fees being the priority.

The same judge had on the day before the oral hearing had decided against the public in the Clifford’s Tower case at York – the public responded to this result by giving financial support to enable an application to the Appeal Court against the verdict. This has been granted.

Save the Futurst did not have funds - actual or potential - to do likewise.

There is still £10,500 owing to the lawyers – some had already been paid but there is still £1,500 owed to the barrister and £9,000 to the solicitors.

Just £5 from each of the 2,100 supporters, would meet this target.

Donations can be made by cheque, written to Squire, Patton, Boggs, or cash to either Miss DC Tasker, 7, Weaponness Valley Close, Scarborough YO11 2JJ or IQ Accountants, 1 Seamer Road Corner YO12 5BB.

It’s hard enough that the Futurist was not saved. Please respond to this appeal if you have not already done so. Thank you.
