Otters find form to edge out North Ferriby and Courts

-

Scalby Under-16s are finding form at the business end of the season as they climbed to fourth in the table with two wins in the Hull Drypool League.

On Wednesday they travelled to North Ferriby and ran out comfortable 5-2 winners.

Eric Hall’s brace and a Lewis Tadman header took them into half-time 3-1 up.

In the second half a cool finish from Chris Wells made it 4-1, before Jack Rogers smashed home from 25 yards.

Ferriby never gave up and pulled a goal back, and despite more late pressure the Otters took the points.

On Sunday they hosted leaders Courts FC at the Flamingo Land Stadium.

How the first half remained goalless remains a mystery, as Scalby frontman Tom MacDonald terrorised the Courts back line while at the other end keeper Max Tadman performed heroics with three stunning saves to keep out the away side.

After only five minutes of the restart MacDonald hit a 30 yard free kick that cannoned in off the underside of the crossbar for 1-0.

Soon after they doubled their lead, Callum Pllu capitalising on another MacDonald effort that the keeper could only parry into his path to cooly chip home.

Courts responded fiercely but found the Scalby midfield and defence no mood to give them a route back into the match, yet when they did Tadman was in unstoppable form.

With 20 minutes remaining the game appeared sewn up as John Clifford volleyed home a superb Ethan Buck cross to make it 3-0, and yet Courts kept going and pulled one back to set up a frantic last 10 minutes.

Wave after wave of attacks were repelled by the home defence superbly marshalled by Toby Dennis and George Eastwood, while MacDonald could have killed the game off but was cynically hauled back when clean though.

Courts scored with virtually the last kick to make it 3-2, but the Otters saw the game out for the win.

With promotion confirmed midweek, Heslerton

Under-15s travelled to Haxby Town with a view to finishing the season on a high.

Haxby however, looked to spoil the party when they grabbed an early lead.

The visitors came close to an equaliser with efforts from top-scorer Morgan Kendrew but still trailed at the interval.

The second half saw Heslerton on the front foot applying the pressure on their hosts and though Robbie Lang came close with a fine freekick, Haxby stood firm.

With minutes remaining the Blues got their just reward.

After the Haxby rearguard had blocked attempts from Lang, Joe Richardson and Jaden Jefferson, up popped Jamie Atkinson to fire the promoted team level with a fine drive into the top right hand corner.

Man of the match was Heslerton captain Ollie Stanton, who worked tirelessly throughout. Heslerton Under-14s were comfortably beaten by an impressive Stamford Bridge outfit, who won the midfield battle with ease.

Though not at their best, Heslerton could have no complaints at the scoreline and were reliant on the heroics of man of the match Brad Spiller in goal to keep them in the contest at half-time.

After the break, Heslerton finally tested the Stamford Bridge keeper, with Ben Flinton and Tom Horsley both forcing finger-tip saves.

It was too little, too late when Bridge doubled their lead, allowing them to take

home the points from a successful away trip.

Heslerton Under-12s battled out a 1-1 draw with Brooklyn in blustery conditions.

The away team took the lead in the first half, however James Chipman levelled things up in the second half.

Both teams had chances to win the game but neither could capitalise, George Harrison in the Heslerton goal pulling off a great save late on to deny Brooklyn victory.

Noah Garnett got the man of the match award. Heslerton Under-11s finished their season off by welcoming Scholes Park

Raiders for a very entertaining game saw the home team come out on top.

The first half finished allsquare with neither side able to break the deadlock howev- er in the second half Warren Stanton opened the scoring nodding home from closerange after the original effort rebounded off the crossbar.

Myles Johnson bravely added another nodding home over the advancing keeper and Beck Hutchinson struck home the final goal from the edge of the box and also claiming the man of the match award. Filey Holt Under-Nines were in sensational form as they romped past Seamerand

Cayton in a double-header. Filey oozed class from the start and a one-two between Kobi Crawford and Jay Marsh resulted in Marsh prodding home for the first goal.

Crawford capitalised on a defensive mix up to add the second and brilliant work from Milly Craven set up Archie Barker to fire home to give Filey a 3-0 lead.

The goal of the day came early in the second half, Crawford’s inch-perfect cross was met by Craven, who outrageously lobbed the keeper.

Logan Tuck added the fifth when he robbed the Seamer defence and coolly finished.

Seamer battled back and scored two goals late on but Filey ran out 5-2 winners with Crawford star man.

In the second game Jay Marsh scored four as Filey powered past rivals Cayton in a devastating display.

Austin Thompson and Kobi Crawford also found the net as Filey produced a masterclass in attacking football.

The game finished 6-1 with Thomas Richardson named man of the match. Heslerton Under-Eight Heroes had two games over

the weekend.

On Saturday they hosted Holt FC.

In the first game the Heroes drew a blank with Keane Welburn taking the player of the match award.

Tom Gibson took the player of the match award.

On Sunday the Heroes faced Scholes Park Raiders.
