Events and entertainments

In addition to the Family Fun Zone, the following programme of events and entertainment will take place in the run-up to what has become the legendary race stage finish on Royal Albert Drive at approximately 5.26pm: 12.30pm – 1.45pm Yorkshire Bank Bike Library/ Welcome to Yorkshire children’s races (Marine DriveRoyal Albert Drive)

1pm – 5pm

See and hear the Big Bike Beat Band (hillside overlooking Royal Albert Drive)

1pm – 5pm Five performances from the Jelly Roll Jazz Band (North Bay – various locations)

2pm – 2.45pm

‘The Final Mile’ - parade by Scarborough and Ryedale Community Cycling including riders on specially adapted bikes (Marine Drive-Royal Albert Drive) 3pm

Goldwing bike parade (Sandside-Marine Drive-Royal Albert Drive)

4.30pm – 4.50pm (approx) Official Tour de Yorkshire Caravan and Ambassadors Tour (first stop on Sandside, second stop at the finish line on Royal Albert Drive).

The caravan will be a record 30 vehicles long and cycling fans will also be able to meet some of the legends of the sport – the Tour de Yorkshire ambassadors – as they travel behind the cavalcade, greeting fans and posing for photographs.

The afternoon’s programme includes the installation of the community musical art project, the Big Bike Beat Band, above the finish line. PLUS, SEE FILEY FOCUS, PAGE 28
