The Central Tramway at Scarborough’s South Bay will be marking Cliff Railway Day on Saturday by offering anyone in Victorian costume free rides on the day.

Cliff Railway Day
The landmark Central Tramway near the Grand Hotel on Scarborough’s South Bay will be marking Cliff Railway Day this year with Victorian costumes, free sweets, and fun for children. Anyone in costume will ride on the day for free.
This is the first year the event is being marked in Scarborough and the company hopes it will grow into an annual event. Neil Purshouse, Director of Central Tramway, said: ‘We are part of a great network of cliff railways around the country and we wanted to celebrate the heritage and engineering of these great locations on one day. “Central Tramway has been serving tourists and locals for more than 135 years. “Our hope is that we’ll be here for another 135 years to come, and we wanted to mark it with a fun day for all the family.” Admission charges apply

Classic Cars
The East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club will be exhibiting vintage and classic vehicles in the grounds of the stately home. During the event the club will be raising funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Visitors are also invited to take a stroll in the Elizabethan walled garden to see the spring flowers blooming, and the house will be open to explore.
The courtyard shops will be filled with the new season’s stock, while home grown plants, all propagated from the gardens, will be sold in the courtyard.
The café will be open for freshly prepared meals and refreshments.
Local ice creams and freshly ground coffee will be served from a vintage ice cream van. Admission charges apply 3Favourite Places Watercolour Exhibition
Andrew Storrie – My
Bridlington Spa from Monday May 14 to Thursday May 31 Local watercolour artist Andrew Storrie returns to The Bridlington Spa for his latest watercolour exhibition.
This new collection of paintings will feature all of Andrew’s favourite landscapes around the Yorkshire area depicted in bright vivid colours, perfect for both spring and summer respectively. There will also be nods to classic features of Andrew’s work including sheep and red telephone boxes. Andrew will be working regularly at the venue throughout the exhibition demonstrating watercolour techniques and styles. Please come along and have a chat with him.

Ride the Land Train
Two trains run on the North Promenade between East Riding Leisure Bridlington and Sewerby Hall and Gardens linking Bridlington town centre with the summer car parks.
One Land Train runs on the South Promenade linking Bridlington town centre to the park and ride and South Cliff Caravan Park. They run from Easter to the end of September between 10.30am until at least 4pm.
During summer holidays they run until 5pm. Charges apply
Spamalot

A two-day celebration of food and drink, exhibiting, live cookery demonstrations and a selection of musical entertainment.
The Yorkshire Post and The Scarborough News have combined forces with Scarborough Borough Council to create a seafront kitchen hosted by top chef Stephanie Moon and featuring guest appearance from Michelin Star chefs including Andrew Pern and James MacKenzie. There’ll be live cookery demonstrations from local chefs, artisan food specialists exhibiting delicious produce, traditional real ales, Pimms and cocktail bars and some of Yorkshire’s finest restaurants serving their signature dishes. Scarborough Jazz Club
Scarborough Jazz Club welcomes a quartet jointly led by tenor saxophonist Dean Masser and guitarist Pat McCarthy.
The two met while touring with the Alan Barnes Octet Fish Tales project and decided to form a smaller unit to explore the rapport they struck up on that tour. Adding Ed Harrison on bass and Caroline Boaden on drums created an instant chemistry.
