Kindness and compassion at Jazz Court in Eastfield impressed inspectors
A Scarborough extra care scheme’s compassionate and respectful approach has helped it earn a ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Sanctuary’s Jazz Court, in Eastfield, received praise for the way residents were cared for in a safe environment at its most recent inspection.
Staff at the Ashmead Square service for people aged over 55 or with long term care needs, were commended for their “caring nature” and the way they treated residents with “compassion, kindness, dignity and respect”.
Residents are encouraged to remain as independent as possible and inspectors observed staff showing “genuine care and concern for the people they supported”.
One resident said: “They are very caring. If I am ill they will help me, if you are upset they are there.”
The report also spoke highly of the management and highlighted regular engagement with residents through meetings as well as continued quality assurance visits to ensure standards were being maintained.
Another resident commented: “I am always impressed by the leadership.
“The registered manager is very good and very welcoming.
“They are excellent, very accommodatingandverygood to deal with.”
Jazz Court, which was built in 2014, has 15 one-bedroom and 45 two-bedroom apart- ments each with a fitted kitchen and bathroom, enabling people to live as independently as possible.
There is a communal lounge and games room, a hairdressing salon and a health and fitness suite.
Sanctuary registered manager Liz Jones said: “We are really pleased with the CQC report and the comments from the inspectors.
“It reaffirms the excellent work our caring staff do to ensure our residents can live as independently as possible.”
