Middleton grabs eighth at Ravenscar

There was a record turnout of with 15 club runners at theannual Ravenscar Trail races.

In the half marathon Matt Middleton came home in eighth place, followed by Rho na Marshall in 14 th place overall and second female

Other finishers were; Alan Whelan 16th and second Over-50, Chris Duck 17th, Mark May 67th, Andy Southwick 92nd, Shaun Hopper 93rd, Robert Lillie 113th and first Over-65, Michael Hyde 133rd, Ellen Clapham 143rd, Louise Milne 208th, David Parke 228th and third Over-65, Samantha Gothard 245th.

In the 10 kilometre race, Danny Walls was fourth overall and first Over-40.

He was followed by Neil Scruton 12th overall first Over-70.

Cyprus-based Julie Clayton competed in the Sport Atsas Mountain Race.

This was a tough and technical 21 kilometres race with almost 1,000m climb, with extremely steep ascents and descents.

In temperatur­es during the race ranging from 32 to 37C, Clayton finished 47th overall of 209 and was third female in 3 hours 5 minutes.

Challenge Race for a ninth year.

The race this year was over a total of 37.5 miles of mostly road but also some trails, with 3,900 feet of ascent. He completed his latest race up in 71 st overall of 1,325 finishers.

Mark May competed in the latest race of the East Hull Harriers SummerSeri­es, a race which was a four mile race at East Hull Park. He finished 63rd overall of 250 in 26 minutes 41 seconds.

Eleven club members took part in the latest Sewerby Parkrun.

Oliver Brown was first home for the club in 5 th overall of 238.

He was followed by Michael Dowson in sixth, while 10-year-old twins Harry and Alfie Coles followed in 19th and 20th overall and both also ran personal bests.

Hester Butterwort­h was the first female overall of 105.

Other females: S Vaughan 55th, P Keenan 69 th and first Over -65, H78 th, L Bay es 96 th and third Over-65.

Other males: A Keenan 101st and third Over-70, P Barnard 109th.
