As Scarboroug­h’s Spa Orchestra prepares for a summer of glorious music, details of its Gala Night have been announced.

1Scarborou­gh Amelia’s Chocolate, Until Friday June 1, 10am. Join the staff at Amelia’s Chocolate in Scarboroug­h for a special half term experience. The Pirate and Princess Workshops are perfect for entertaini­ng the family. Just drop in and choose from making a chocolate crown or a chocolate castle. From £5 to £10 per person. 2Scarborou­gh Gin Society Gin Festival, Spa Friday June 1, 6pm to 10.30pm. Saturday June 2, noon to 4.30pm and 6pm to 10.30pm. If you haven’t experience­d a Gin Society festival, you’re in for a treat – we’re in the business of creating a magical experience as you embark on your journey around the world of gin. Enjoy a selection of the world’s finest gins and perhaps learn a few facts you didn’t know about this legendary libation. With more than120 different gins on offer, you can sample your favourite flavours and discover some exciting new tastes from around the region, the UK and beyond, including a wide range of fashionabl­e fruit gins. As well as gin, The Gin Society will also be serving its hugely popular sloe gin and prosecco fizz, plus a small selection of bespoke beverages. Botanical Brewers Fentimans will be supplying their range of tonic waters and, for those who like something a little different with their gin, Fentimans delicious Rose Lemonade and Pink Grapefruit Tonic will also be available. The trail will be a chance to match the names of Amy’s aeroplanes (all named after moths) to their real life insect namesakes. Other events that week include :

Rusticus adventure: Musical Mayhem!: Thursday, 31 May featuring: a magical musical adventure around the grounds, with characters who all love to make a noise! An energetic adventure walk with music-inspired games and activities.

Ball-goers can tuck into a three-course meal while this year’s raffle features a surprise twist. The ball raises money for three charities – Saint Catherine’s Hospice, Butterwick Hospice and Zoe’s Place.

Lucy Mothersdal­e, the main organiser who set up White Lily in memory of her late parents, said: “It’s set to be a really good

Visit www.bridspa.com/ events/?eventid=69402 9Hunmanby Wold Top Brewery and Grange Open Weekend Wold Newton, Sat June 2 and Sun June 3, 11am to 5pm Visitors will be able to tour the beautiful garden that Wold Top Brewery cofounder and horticultu­ralist, Gill Mellor has created despite its exposure to the elements and a challengin­g soil. Gill will be on hand to share her stories about how the garden has evolved over a quarter of a century into a series of gardens that have been developed depending on shelter, aspect, views and function.

Visitors to the brewery will be able to see where and how the ales are made using home grown barley and water from the farm’s borehole. The brewery talks will be wheelchair accessible.

On the Saturday, visitors will have the opportunit­y to take a selfie with the GYSheifer and enter a competitio­n to win a family ticket to this year’s 160th Great Yorkshire Show. The GYSheifer is a one off, bespoke, life-size sculpture in steel which stands 6ft high, 4ft wide and 11ft long. Hunmanby Grange is one of five stop off points for the sculpture ahead of the Great Yorkshire Show opening on July 10. www.woldtopbre­wery.co.uk 1Old 0 Visiting artist Mary Wells Town Gallery, Bridlingto­n, opens Fri day June 1 Mary Wells is the next artist to hold an exhibition at Bridlingto­n Old Town Gallery. The exhibition opens on June 1 and runs throughout the month at the gallery in Bridlingto­n Old Town. The next visiting artist will be Carol Davidson in August.
