Hunmanby take early lead at the top

The crown green bowls league contests are beginning to indicate where teams stand in the ratings.

At the top of Saturday Division One are Hunmanby A on 52 points after five games with Dukes Park A adrift of them by four points also after five games.

Whitby gave Hunmanby a close run in their last match played at Whitby’s West Cliff green.

Bridlingto­n Bay A and West gate A are at the bottom of the first division.

In Division Two, Dukes Park B have 45 points and are eight points above their nearest rivals North Cliff B.

Hunmanby 1 are also at the top of the Over 60s mid-week league.

They are on 42 points - the same as Bridlingto­n Bay 1 but Hunmanby have won more matches.

In the second midweek division Hunmanby 3 top the leaderboar­d.

North Cliff 1 top the Evening Singles League One table with 1,424 points with their nearest rivals Borough 1 on 1,385.

The Evening Doubles League is topped by Dukes Park 1 on 575 points.

Eastfield 2 scored a good win away from home against Westgare 2 in the Evening League second division.

They won 140 points to 132 with Les Craggs, Dave Wicks, Sharon Craggs and Dave Muir all winning.

In division one Eastfield 1 overcame Brid Bay 2 at Sewerby 137 points to 137.

Kevin Garside won 21-5.
