Five-star accolade for your soaraway Scarborough News
Your Scarborough News is flying the flag for the town at a major newspaper awards – in a remarkable fifth consecutive appearance in the final of the event.
The title is one of just three papers in the 2018 Yorkshire & the Humber O2 Media Awards shortlisted in the best weekly paper category. Scores of print, radio and TV representatives will gather for the big ceremony in Leeds next month. It represents a unique run, as The Scarborough News was judged the best O2 weekly newspaper in 2014 and in 2016, and was shortlisted in 2015 and in 2017.
The current best weekly title for Yorkshire & the Humber is our sister paper with the same team, the Whitby Gazette, which has also made it through to next month’s final, competing against Scarborough and the Sheffield Telegraph.
For The Scarborough News it is the 10th inclusion in media awards since 2013, including commendations and shortlists in the nationwide Newspaper Awards and the Society of Editors Regional Press Awards.
“Thank you to all our readers and contributors, and our advertisers and outlets for their support which has enabled us to create a dynamic newspaper that presents reliable, independent news and features,” said editor Ed Asquith.
For top news and sport coverage, superb pictures and the best what’s on round-up and great platforms for property, classifieds and your advertising needs, you’re on a winner.
