here, they just turn up, make a mess then leave.

“I’d fine them £1,000 personally.”

He was backed by Cllr Bill Chatt (Ind) who added: “It is time to tell these people that they are not welcome here.”

Speaking in March when the PSPO was proposed Insp Graeme Kynman, of North Yorkshire Police, said it was evident that some of those attending the weekend event were driving dangerously.

“We simply could not take the risk posed to the many adults and children who were enjoying the sunshine and entertainment in the area,” he said.

“The safety of pedestrians has to be a priority.”

At a Static Royals event last year a driver caused £50,000 worth of damage to the road by burning out his tyres.

The Royals denied that the man in question, who was later prosecuted, wasaclubmember. + WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PROPOSAL? Andy Harrison: “They do bring money to the town, but it shows again one person spoilt it for the majority.”

Phil Hibbard: “The council should team up with Static Royals, and create a spectator event. I’m sure people would like to see some of the modifications made.”

Katrina Claydon: “This is an absolute joke. My husband and I had taken our little girl for a day out at the seaside when one of these meets were on and it was great.”

Kim Elworthy: “Don’t spend money? I think the cafes on Marine Drive would disagree.” Nina Lunn: “All this because of one person that ruined it for everyone.”

Sam Francis: “At the end of the day a car club won’t ever be able to change people’s minds. “No matter how well organised it can be, there is and always will be mess left behind.”
