Police solve a quarter of crimes in borough
Region one of the best in Yorkshire despite low figures
New research has revealed the number of unsolved crimes within the Scarborough borough, revealing that 27% of crimes committed were solved between 2016 and 2017.
However, that figure places Scarborough at the top of the Yorkshire league table.
People living in Barnsley, Sheffield, Leeds and Bradford all see fewer than 10% of their crimes solved by their local police forces.
The statistics, collected by goodmove.co.uk, have uncovered that it is bad news if you are a victim of burglary, as out of 34,521 burglaries committed throughout Yorkshire, only 978 crimes were solved that’s an overall 2.83%.
It has also been shown that violence and sexual offence crimes have a solve rate of just 9.90% in Yorkshire between 2016 and 2017, with only 8,839 crimes solved out of more than 89,000 offences committed.
Taking crime data from Leeds, Wakefield, Barnsley, Bradford, Doncaster, East Riding of Yorkshire, York, Scarborough and Kirklees, the worst offending cities have been ranked in order of the lowest crime solved rate.
Scarborough has the highest solve rate, with close to 27%of crimes committed were solved.
