Car­ing pupils are mak­ing a dif­fer­ence

Young peo­ple at the Pupil Re­fer­ral Unit in Scar­bor­ough have been work­ing to­wards their Ju­nior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS) which is com­pleted in their free time.

One sec­tion of the award, ‘Me and My World’, is aimed at mak­ing in­di­vid­u­als re­alise how they can make the world around them a bet­ter place for oth­ers.

Two of the stu­dents, Liam Studholme and Jamie McLaren, have cho­sen to bake and dec­o­rate buns then dis­trib­ute them ev­ery week to a dif­fer­ent de­serv­ing cause for res­i­dents or staff to en­joy. They have vis­ited Foun­da­tion Scar­bor­ough, Saint Cather­ine’s Hospice and Saint Ce­cilia’s Nurs­ing Home.

Staff and res­i­dents have made them feel wel­come and the cakes were thor­oughly en­joyed.
