Scarborough Seafest is celebrating its 20th anniversary, this weekend, with a fun-filled maritime-themed weekend.

The three-day event at South Bay will give visitors a chance to dive into years of fishing history in the North East alongside more than 40 craft and local produce stalls, chef demonstrations, live music, a beer festival and a grand fireworks display on the Saturday at 9.45pm.

A key feature of the event this year is free tours that celebrate the full maritime experience, located at the Vessel Village on North Wharf as well as West Pier and Vincent Pier.

Explore two Royal Navy fast patrol boats, HMS Example and HMS Explorer, as well as HMS Pickle, a recreation of the messenger ship that brought back news of Admiral Lord Nelson’s death at the Battle of Trafalgar.

On West Pier, seafood lovers will be able to get a rare insight in to shellfish production from local fishermen. The free tours of the harbour-side facilities will be a chance to get up close and learn more about the shellfish species that are caught off the Yorkshire coast and their journey from sea to plate.

Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre’s exhibition will tell the history of Scarborough, through demonstrations of ship building and maritime life from the Romans and Vikings.
