Ganton beat Filey 2nds by a comfortable margin of 98 runs to lift the Home Guard Sunday Cup.

Ganton won the toss on a glorious sunny afternoon at Forge Valley and elected to bat.

Reardon went on to score a fine 75 and the tail end took the score up to a daunting 183-9 at the end of their 30 overs.

Filey’s best bowlers were Lee Plant, who took 3-26, and Lewis Adams, who chipped in with 3-29.

In reply, Filey lost early wickets and only Mick Blyth with 18 and David Pooley, who reached 17, managed to make double figures as they were shot out for just 85 runs, leaving Ganton the comfortable winners by a 98-run margin.

Ganton’s stand out bowlers were Phil Elliot with 3-30, Rob Bradley, who took 2-6, and Ed Lockwood, who chipped in with the ball to take 2-3.
