Major, of Princess Royal Terrace, Scarborough, was arrested in the early hours of July 2 after police launched an urgent appeal to locate him. Officers carried out a detailed forensic examination of the scene and made house-tohouse enquiries before locating Major, who initially denied the offences.
His lawyer Neil Cutte said Major accepted that he faced a lengthy prison sentence. Judge Simon Hickey said it was a “sustained attack involving weapons”, notably glass.
The judge adjourned sentence to August 24 and ordered reports on Major to ascertain the level of dangerousness he posed to the public due to his “substantial” record for violence.
