Creating a safer shopping experience
The 22nd Christmas operation codenamed Goggle, which promotes security awareness over the Christmas shopping period, was launched on December 1 and will run until December 27. Chairman of Scarborough Anti Theft Group, Janet Jefferson, said: “The crime partnership headed up by Scarborough Anti Theft Group, holders with Distinction of the Safer Business Award for Scarborough, partners with Police, Safer Communities and CCTV to ensure a safe and secure shopping experience for both residents and visitors to Scarborough.” Scarborough Anti Theft group, part of the Scarborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce, is a self funding voluntary group which also co-ordinates the successful ‘Shop Watch’ digital radio scheme that covers over 70 businesses outlets throughout the town.
