Messenger delivers 66th spot after seven-marathon series

Three club members competed in the seventh and final event of the 26.2 series of the Hardmoors races, which took place around the Roseberry Topping area on the North Yorkshire Moors.

In the marathon race which consisted of an extremely testing 30 miles with over 5,000 feet of climb, Andy Messenger achieved his goal of completing all seven marathon races, after finishing 66th and in the top half of the field of 132 plus three who failed to finish, in 6 hours 57 minutes.

Samantha Gothard completed the tough half marathon course over 17 miles in 4 hours 38 minutes.

Ellen Clapham competed in the 10-kilometre race and finished fourth female overall in 1 hour 39 minutes.

Three club members competed in the latest races in the Grim Up North series of races over two days and consisted of paths alongside the Leeds to Liverpool Canal, which started and finished at Kirstall.

Warren Foster finished 12th of 63 in the marathon in 3 hours 50 minutes.

Paul Thompson and Emma Foster competed in the 6.5-mile race in which the 58-year-old Thompson finished third overall of 109 in 43 minutes 35 seconds.

Foster finished seventh female in 55 minutes 36 seconds.

On the second day, ultradista­nce specialist Warren Foster completed another marathon and finished 20th of 42 in 4 hours 26 minutes.

Emma Foster was 19th female overall of 26 in 2 hours 12 minutes.

Eleven club members took part in the latest Sewerby Parkrun.

The first finisher for the club was Alex Blackman who was 13th overall of 143.

Ruth Rutt led all the club’s five females in fourth overall of 65 females and was the first Over-55.

Other males in gender Order: P Barnard 31st, A Keenan 34th and first Over-70, G Malcolm 61st, R Gough 76th.

Other females in gender order: Elsa Lees 17th and first 10 years, Evie Lees 23rd and second 11-14, P Keenan 49th and first Over-65, R Newton 52nd and third Over-60.

Six club members took part in the latest Dalby Forest Parkrun.

The first finisher for the club was Thomas Gavin, who was 11th overall of 149.

Nikki Carr led the club’s four females in sixth overall of 68 females.

Dale Hepples was 13th male and second Over-40.

Other females in gender order: K Webster 10th and second Over-40, S Marshall 23rd and first Over-50, W Pattison 58th.
