Methodist Church

This Sunday morning worship at 10.30am will be a joint service to be held at Wreyfield Drive Methodist Church, this will be led by the Rev Emma Morgan.

There will be no service at Scalby Methodist Church this week.

Sweet Pea Calendar

The 2019 Sweet Pea Calendar is now available in most retail outlets in Scalby village.

Featuring local views, it costs £4 with all the money raised going towards the refurbishment and general upkeep of the toilets.

WI meeting

A rousing chorus of Jerusalem was accompanied by the Ukulele Band at the last meeting in the year of the Scalby and Newby WI.

Members and guests were welcomed by their new president, Pam Caton. It was decided that members missing a meeting would be sent a copy of the minutes to keep them up to date.

The new committee were introduced with their respective roles and a delegate was sought for the spring council meeting which will be held at The Spa.

The 2019 Resolutions were read out and members were urged to use the voting form in the Life magazine. Members were reminded about the Vale and Dale lunch on Wednesday, December 19, and two events planned for the New Year which are a Health and Wellbeing day at Ayton Village Hall in March and a climate change discussion at Stockton on Forest in February.

After festive refreshments members were entertained by the Ukulele Band which had hands clapping and toes twitching, culminating in members showing their off dancing skills.

Dates for your diary are: Catch Up, 12.30pm, Friday, January 25, at Greensmith and Thackeray’s café, 30 St Nicholas Street; Book Club, 10am, Tuesday, January 29, at the home of Valerie; Craft Club, 2pm, Thursday, January 10 at the Friends’ Meeting House.

The next general meeting will be on Monday, January 28 at 7pm in the Friends’ Meeting House where guests and visitors will be welcome.
