attended the scene alongside paramedics and rescue teams from Filey and Bridlington.

The casualty, a 65-year-old woman, had sustained serious shoulder injuries.

The crew of Tom Barkley, Vanessa Thomas, Andrew MacKenzie and Jon Harrison took her back to Coble Landing and she was passed into the care of the paramedics for further treatment.

Filey Lifeboat press offic- er John Ward said: “Boxing Day was fine and sunny but the rocks on the Brigg are still very slippery.

“Thank you to the Coastguard Teams who assisted and to all the lifeboat crew who attended so quickly.

“We wish the lady a speedy recovery.”

Filey’s all-weather lifeboat was called out 11 times in 2018 and the inshore vessel was needed on 24 occasions.

Mr Ward said: “It has been slightly busier than 2017 but about average for a year for us.

“The first six months of the year was the busiest for us, especially for the inshore lifeboat.”

He said all of the RNLI team appreciated the support they had received from the Filey community over the past 12 months – and they are making plans for 2019.

“Thank you to all those who go out of their way to support us,” he added.

“We are going to start a recruitment drive early in the new year.

“We are looking for a couple of boat crew – we have got good numbers but people are always asking and you can join from the age of 17 if you have parental permission – but we are also looking to increase the number of volunteers who help in our shop.” A Filey resident has been named in the New Year’s Honours List for services to Children and Young People.

James Cliffe, 34, is the manager of No Wrong Door, in Scarborough, an acclaimed service provided by North Yorkshire County Council that supports vulnerable people aged 12 to 25.

He said: “I see so many extreme cases. Young people involved in criminality, people with a history of alcohol or drug dependency or at risk of sexual exploitation.

“It’s not a quick fix but our job is to build a relationship with them and give them the same chances as everybody else.

“When I found out about the MBE I was shocked. It’s a nice gesture and a real honour.”

James, who used to work as a prison officer, is also a foster parent, taking some of the children in his care into his own family.

As well as looking after his birth sons Jack, nine, and Sam, seven, he and his wife Sarah foster James, 20; Daniel, 18; Dan, 19; and Kyle, 17.
