Town is ‘a safe shopping destination’
Scarborough Anti Theft Group is celebrating its reaccreditation of the Safer Business Award for Scarborough, following a business check by Steve Booth of the Association of Business Crime Partnerships Limited. The award was first presented to Scarborough Anti Theft Group in 2002 and the group has been re-accredited every two years since.
The award focuses on the success of the self funding voluntary group, which is part of the Scarborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce, and rewards their good practice amongst local Safer Community Partnerships, linking retailers and other businesses with the Police, Council, CCTV and thereby deterring criminals from shoplifting and other business crime activities. Chairman Janet Jefferson and co-ordinator Chris Golder said they were delighted to be re-accredited with the award. Janet highlighted that shopping is a vital part of our tourism economy and the re-accreditation of the award once again promotes Scarborough as a safe shopping destination. 194902
