Following the success of last year’s event, Lisa Smith has organised a night of entertainment at Cayton Bay Holiday Park on Saturday November 23 in aid of three charities, Cancer Research UK, Breast Cancer Care and Saint Catherine’s
The breast cancer survivor was inspired by the Real Full Monty with Coleen Nolan, where eight female celebrities bared all in ITV’s The Real Full Monty: Ladies’ Night.
“After watching the show and having breast cancer myself it really got to me as I’ve buried a lot of my emotions from it,” she said. “The idea started last year after I posted on Facebook saying what a fabulous programme to get breast cancer awareness out there and my friend said ‘why don’t you do one in Scarborough?’. So it went from there. I posted asking if anyone would be interested and the response was outstanding.”
The Dance by Design owner donated £8,000 to four charities, Macmillan Nurses, Breast Cancer Care, Cancer Research UK and Willows Lull Children’s Charity, which was raised from the event at Cayton Bay last year.
The 52-year-old is choreographing the show, which will include entry song to Ricky Martin’s ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ and performance of the ‘Half Monty’ to ‘This is Me’ from The Greatest Showman.
The mum-of-four added: “We will be getting our boobs out for charity with a Half Monty at the end of the night. I’m choreographing the show myself as I’ve worked with shows since I was 10.”
The ‘Half Monty’ will include some ladies who performed last year and new ladies who have also been affected by cancer in some way.
