Panto characters to take over town

-

Panto characters will be taking over the town centre as part of the Counting Down to Christmas festival.

From today, the Treasure Island cast from the Stephen Joseph Theatre will be marauding around the town every Late Night Thursday between 4pm– 7.30pm and every weekend between 11am and 3pm.

Cinderella and her friends from Scarborough Spa will have a ball in the town between 4pm and 8pm on November 28, and 2pm to 4pm on November 30 and December 1.

On December 14 and 19 the cast from YMCA’s Jack & the Beanstalk will help shoppers find their Christmas gift gold.

Four men have denied murder over the death of a man who suffered fatal stab injuries in Scarborough.

Solomon Robinson, 26, from Scarborough, died following an alleged stabbing in St Nicholas Street on Sunday October 20.

Callon Brass, Stevie Low, Dawid Goral and Kieran Watkinson entered not guilty pleas to murder at Leeds Crown Court yesterday. A fifth defendant, Stefan Selvage, was also present but the charge was not put to him. The court heard Selvage needed more time to speak with his barrister.

A trial date was set for April 20 next year.

Brass, 21, of Eastborough, and Low, 22, of Longwestgate, appeared in the dock. Goral, 20, of Durham Street, Watkinson, 18, of Endcliff Crescent, and Selvage, 18, of Colescliffe Road, appeared via a video link from Doncaster Young Offenders Institution.

The five were told they will remain in custody until the trial.
